The Holy Spirit and You

Stuart and Jill Briscoe

Christians fully recognize that God exists in three persons—the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Yet it's a great mystery that we're often incapable of rationally grasping and explaining.

How does Scripture portray the Holy Spirit, and how can we be confident the Holy Spirit is the third person of God?

In this series, Stuart and Jill Briscoe focus on what Scripture says about the Holy Spirit as our protector, teacher, and counselor, and how we can recognize Him at work in the present moments of our lives.

Messages From This Series:

  1. 3. The Fruit of the Spirit

    Jill Briscoe

Whenever God does anything big, He does it through His Spirit. For example, when God created the Heavens and the Earth, He did so through the power of His Spirit. If the Spirit is capable of doing such huge things, just imagine what the Spirit can do in our lives—if we let Him.

In this message, Jill encourages each of us to examine our own life and see the fruit of the Spirit.

    Scripture:  Galatians 5

  2. 5. The Holy Spirit: Overview and Old Testament

    Stuart Briscoe

The Apostles, from whose writings we derive our information on the Holy Spirit, drew heavily from the Old Testament for their understanding of the third member of the Trinity. We need to follow their example.

In this message, Stuart looks at the meaning of the key Hebrew word for Spirit called "Ruach" and explores the scriptures of the Old Testament to teach us more about the Holy Spirit.

  3. 8. Spirit Life

    Jill Briscoe

We are called to live by the Spirit so we can overcome the desires of our sinful nature. But how do we do that?

In this message, Jill helps us understand what it means to live by the Spirit by examining the "fruits of the flesh" and then looking at the first three fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, and peace.

    Scripture:  1 Corinthians 13 , Galatians 5:16

  4. 9. Fruits of the Spirit: Steps

    Jill Briscoe

The Holy Spirit can do amazing things within us, if we let Him. In this message Jill explains how we can let the Spirit change us, how we can develop the Spirit’s character, how we can respond to the Spirit’s call, and so much more. Learning these things can help us walk in the Spirit—not the flesh—so we can have a positive impact on the lives of those around us.

  5. 10. The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Church

    Stuart Briscoe

Paul, in his letter to the Church of Ephesus, stresses the importance of being "filled with the Spirit." When we hear this, most of us think of being "full," like being full of a liquid. But this is not the type of full that Paul was referring to.

In this message, Stuart explores Paul’s letter to Ephesus and teaches what it really means to be filled with the Spirit.
