Finding Happiness

Stuart Briscoe

No matter how desperate we are to control what happens around us, the truth is that our daily circumstances are often beyond our control.  We can’t anticipate a future layoff or when an illness will strike.  We never know when the next bit of bad news will come our way.

And if we’ve made the mistake of relying on our circumstances to bring us happiness, we’ll most certainly come up short.  So, where does this leave us?  Are we stuck feeling hopeless, helpless, and unhappy?

In this 3-message series, Finding Happiness, Stuart Briscoe teaches from Scripture to encourage us to think differently about where we seek to find hope, peace, and joy.  You’ll discover how to successfully navigate through life’s difficulties and experience hope and happiness no matter what comes your way.

Messages From This Series:

  1. 1. Living Today in the Light of Tomorrow

    Stuart Briscoe

We tend to think in terms of the here and now, and that’s understandable—we live here and we’re living now!  But this world is not home for believers.  If we’re too focused on the things of this world and never give a thought to living in the light of tomorrow, we won’t live well in the HERE and NOW!

This might all sound like a challenging riddle, but the Apostle Peter uses this line of thinking to warn us about the risk of becoming so earthbound and seduced by the things of this world that we lose sight of heaven.  But what does living in light of tomorrow look like?

In this message, Stuart Briscoe teaches from 2 Peter about living in anticipation of the eternal days to come, so that we can live our best life now.

    Scripture:  2 Peter 3:14 - 3:18

  2. 2. The Road to Joy

    Stuart Briscoe

We have an insatiable desire to control and manipulate what happens around us—all in pursuit of achieving happiness.  But the truth is we have very little control of what’s happening around us and hence little chance of finding the happiness that eludes us.

As believers in Jesus, should the pursuit of happiness really be our end goal?  Do we need God to fix our happenings, or do we need God to fix our attitudes?

In this message, Stuart Briscoe teaches from Nehemiah where we learn where to find stability, security, and well-being—and discover where God wants us to focus our minds so we can rejoice and be glad even in uncertain days.

    Scripture:  Nehemiah 8:1 - 8:10

  3. 3. How to Deal with Adversity

    Stuart Briscoe

Romans 8:28 tells us that God works all things for the good to those who love Him.  But this promise is hard to believe when we suffer through difficult circumstances.  And if we’re honest, it seems like there’s no way God is working in all things, because much of what happens to us is totally contrary to all that God is and all that God stands for.

So where does this leave us?

In this message, Stuart Briscoe unpacks Romans 8:28 to help us come to terms with our feelings of doubt and have complete faith and hope that God really is at work in our lives.

    Scripture:  Romans 8:28
