In Bible times, every seven years all slaves had the chance to go free. If they chose to stay with their masters, they would be taken to the public market and a peg was put through one of the slave's ears to mutilate the ear. That way he would be "marked" as a slave who loved his master and did not want to go free. We are called to serve God as willing slaves. Do you consider yourself "marked" for God?
