David fought and won battles with the Giants of pride, greed, revenge, fear, and despair, and wrote Psalms of praise to his God that are sung in hundreds of languages thousands of years later. David did well for two decades. Then came "middle age."
The Giants of Wrath, conferring about which of their number to send out to bring David down, chose one of their most trusted and best. Giant Temptation. "Let's see what you can do," they said as they sent him on his way from the dark places. Giant Temptation settled down to wait for his opportunity. It was not long in coming. And so it was "in the time that kings went forth to war, David stayed at home."
