God isn’t looking for extraordinary people to do great things and achieve His eternal purposes. He works through ordinary people… like you.

Consider the 12 disciples. They were simple guys who were often self-absorbed, self-promoting, and lacking faith. They got many things wrong; but as Jesus poured Himself into them, little by little, they were transformed and empowered by the Spirit. God worked through these basic men to save the world!

First Corinthians 1:27, 31 says, God chose the foolish things of this world to shame the wise, and therefore Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.

In Mark 9  we see Jesus providing lesson after lesson to draw the disciples into a deeper level of commitment and surrender to Him. That’s what He draws each of us to as well.

So, if you feel inadequate, be encouraged. If you feel overwhelmed because you’ve been trying so hard to do something great for God, give it a rest. If you want to be used by God, lean into your ordinariness and ask Him to work in you. Then watch what extraordinary things He will do through you!
