Impacting Our World

Pete Briscoe

An impact is defined as a forcible collision. It's when we get entangled in the path of something or someone. We tend to think of collisions as bad things, but when you are a believer, making an impact—leaving a dent on our fallen society—is a good thing. So what types of disciples do we need to be to impact our communities? Pete answers this question very specifically in this series. It's a study of Acts and the highly effective disciples of the early church, who God used to transform lives across multiple continents.

If you long to become fired up for the things that matter to God and leave a mark on the people around you, you will find new energy and excitement in Pete's practical teaching!

Messages From This Series:

  1. 3. Liberty-Sharing Disciples

    Pete Briscoe

Many of us have a person in our lives who is a good example of how we should be—maybe a parent, teacher, or friend. When it comes to our relationship with God, we can look to Jesus' disciples as good examples of the kinds of Christians we should be.

In this message, Pete looks at the book of Acts and uses the disciples' lives as examples to demonstrate four attitudes that we can have that will bring glory to Christ.

    Scripture:  Acts 3

  2. 4. Jesus-Loving Disciples

    Pete Briscoe

How do you know a young girl is in love? She talks about him all the time! And parents who love their kids often brag about them to everyone, and many of us know grandparents who talk about their grandkids constantly. The same is true if we're in love with Jesus—we talk about Him all the time.

In this message, Pete looks at the life of Peter to help us understand how we can love Jesus more.

    Scripture:  Acts 3 , Acts 4

  3. 6. Living True

    Pete Briscoe

We've all heard about kids who said they ate all of their vegetables, but they really fed them to the dog. And maybe there's been a time in your life when you agreed with something someone said, even though you knew it wasn't true. These lies may seem harmless, but in God's eyes they're not.

In this message, Pete talks about two types of lying, the impact lying can have, and how we can change that behavior.

    Scripture:  Acts 5

  4. 7. Sharing the Load

    Pete Briscoe

We all have times in our lives when we're so busy we just don't know how we'll get everything done. It's in times like these that we're grateful to have someone come alongside and help us. Many people who serve in the church feel this same sense of busyness that prevents them from completing tasks or reaching out to others.

In this message, Pete explores ways we can help "share the load" by serving God in the church and the community.

    Scripture:  Acts 6

  5. 8. Sold-Out Disciples

    Pete Briscoe

Professional athletes are often described by their coaches and their family as giving 100% to their sport all the time. This awesome effort, paired with their athletic ability, is why they have reached an elite level within their profession. God is looking for this same level of commitment, and He sent the Holy Spirit to help us.

In this message, Pete looks to the life of Stephen as an example of what can happen when we are "sold-out" for Christ.

    Scripture:  Acts 6

  6. 9. Risk-Taking Disciples

    Pete Briscoe

Rock climbing, public speaking, white-water rafting, and sharing the gospel are all activities that include a level of risk. Some people find it fun to take a risk, while others find it terrifying. Like it or not, taking risks as a believer, however scary, is something God wants us to do.

In this message, Pete studies the life of Philip and discusses four risks we can take that will make a positive impact in our lives and the lives of others.

    Scripture:  Acts 8:4 - 8:25

  7. 10. Good-News-Spreading Disciples

    Pete Briscoe

Most of us know that God has commanded us to share the gospel, and many of us would agree it's a hard thing to do. Maybe you feel scared to share, or maybe you don't have a lot of confidence in your ability to share.

In this message, Pete explains how we can share the gospel by breaking it down into five steps we can take to feel confident about sharing the good news.

    Scripture:  Acts 8:26 - 8:39
